Damon Keller
Dance Instructor
Damon has over 25 years of dancing and teaching experience. A native of Portland, OR, he started dancing all styles in high school and connected most with tap. After auditioning for Broadway tap company Bring In Da Noise, Bring In Da Funk, Damon found himself dancing in LA with TapSoundsUnderground. Damon was on faculty at the EDGE Performing Arts Center, a dancer with a tap/drum company called “LaFeet” at Disney California Adventure and toured 4 different dance conventions and competitions across North America as well as doing industrials for Nike, Columbia Sportswear, Oregon Lottery, and Macy’s. You can also see Damon in movies such as Men Of Honor with Cuba Gooding Jr and Robert DeNiro, Extraordinary Measures with Brandon Frasier and Harrison Ford, and a Capital One commercial for NCAA March Madness. Now settled back in Portland, Damon works for Portland Public Schools as the Dance Department Director and Dance Team Director for Ockley Green Middle School. In completing his 10th year, he holds the position as the Arts Liaison for his school’s community, and he also works with inner city community organizations, SEI and SUN School programs within his school teaching Tap and Hip Hop. After his day job at Public School, you can find Damon teaching his self-identified tap style, “FNKTAP” (funk tap) and hip hop. He is the Lead-Dance Director for Northstar Dance Company, a Native-American group bridging the gap between native style dances and industry style dances.
